Today there are several ways to send money between Brazil and the United States. From large commercial banks and companies like Western Union, to foreign exchange brokers and money sending sites like PayPal, Xoom and many others.

Some Brazilian banks, such as Banco do Brasil Americas, have a presence in the USA and bank transfers between Banco do Brasil Americas and Banco do Brasil S.A. accounts in Brazil are only subject to the IOF of 0.38%.

Foreign exchange companies, such as Advanced Corretora, have opened offices in the United States (Advanced US) and offer service in Portuguese and free foreign exchange advice.

In general, the dollar rate is regulated by the market, but each company has its own spread, which is where they usually make their profit. It is therefore advisable to always check the day's rates before sending.
