Exchange & Remittance

There are several ways to send money between Brazil and the United States today. From large commercial banks and companies like Western Union, to exchange brokers and money sending sites like PayPal, Xoom and many others.

Some Brazilian banks, such as Banco do Brasil Americas, have a presence in the USA, and bank transfers between Banco do Brasil Americas and Banco do Brasil S.A. in Brazil are only charged the IOF tax of 0.38%.

Foreign exchange companies, such as Advanced Corretora, have opened offices in the United States (Advanced US) and offer free customer service in Portuguese and currency exchange advice.

In general, the dollar rate is regulated by the market, but each company has its own spread, which is where they usually make their profit. Therefore, it is recommended that you always consult the daily rates before sending your goods.
